Adekoya Sets New Outdoor School Record in the 200m Dash

Jersey City, NJ -- The Alliance University men's track & field program started its 2023 outdoor season with the Monmouth Track & Field Season Opener on Friday and Sunday. The highlight of the day came from freshman Christopher Adekoya who broke the current school record of 22.52s in the 100m dash event set by Josiah Cumberbatch in 2022 with a new time of 21.89s.

Raul Deza came in 39th in the 400m dash with a time of 54.95s, while Kosiani Dunkley finished the 1,500m event with a time of 4:10.28. Noble Parker (4:29.28), Jeremiah Herbert (4:35.54), and Shad Downes (4:39.49) finished the same event in 75th, 78th, and 80th respectively.

Downes and Dunkley also started in the 5,000m event and finished with times of 17:59.59 and 19:10.23 in 51st and 53rd place.

Alliance is looking to be back in action on March 31st & April 1st when they will compete 2023 Danny Curran Invitational in Chester, Pennsylvania.
