Jersey City, NJ -- The Alliance University men's basketball team kept its playoff hopes alive with an important win over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division rivals Holy Family University Tigers on Saturday night. AU upended th Tigers with a final score of 69-65 and are sitting in the 6th spot in the North Division with a conference record of 5-8, two games behind 4th spot Bloomfield.
The first half saw plenty of back and forth action with multiple lead changes. As a result the first 20 minutes finished with the score tied at 30 each. The second half continued in a similar fashion. It took until the 6:43 minute mark. With the score tied at 48, Alliance went on a 9-0 run to get some separation from the Tigers. In the remaining minutes, AU was able to fend off HFU to claim the important win with a final score of 69-65. Alliance claimed the win thanks to equal scoring distribution on the day. Adrian Amaro led AU with 16 points shooting a perfect three for three from behind the arc. He was followed by Jayden Dawson and Isayas Aris with 13 points each. Joel Bailey also reached double-digit scoring with 12 points on the day. Isayas Aris recorded yet another double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds and currently is tied for first with 13 amongst all NCAA Division II programs.
Alliance will be back on the court on Saturday, February 11th, when they travel to Chestnut Hill for another CACC match up at 3:00 pm.
