Jersey City, NJ -- In a game of lot of firsts the Alliance University women's lacrosse program lost its opening match to the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds with 3-15. With the loss AU starts the season off 0-1, while the Firebirds claimed their first win of the season and are now 1-1.
Graduate student Jasmyne Moore started the game off with her first of ten won draw controls and took the ball all the way to the back of net to give AU the 1-0 lead. UDC answered back with four goals in the first quarter to go up by three. The Firebirds then added another six runs to take a 10-1 lead into halftime. UDC scored another pair of goals in the third quarter before Alliance scored the first goal of the fourth quarter. Alexis Taylor claimed her first collegiate career goal with 14:15 left in the game. The assist came from Kristen Bernal who claimed her first collegiate assists.
The Firebirds answered with two more goals before Moore got her second goals of the day off an assist by Adrianna Ramirez, her first career assist. UDC would score the final goal of the day with a final score of 3-15 in favor of the Firebirds.
Jasmyne Moore finished the day with ten draw controls, 8 ground balls, four caused turnovers, and two goals.
Up next: Alliance will be back in action on Friday, March 3rd, when they take on Lancaster Bible on the road at noon.
