Jersey City, NJ -- The Alliance University baseball program was back in action on Sunday and Monday afternoon when they hosted the American International College Yellow Jackets in a four game series with two double headers on each day. AIC would come out victorious in all four games starting their season off with a perfect 4-0, while Alliance falls to 1-6.
Game 1:
Alliance got on the board first when Rocco Nappi scored off a sacrifice fly by Eric Bittiger, before AIC hit back with 15 unanswered runs over the next six innings to take the 15-1 lead. AU would round up the scoring in the bottom of the sixth when Bittiger scored off a Darnel Guerrero single to right center.
Game 2:
AIC got off to the better start with 8 scored runs in the top of the second inning. Alliance answered right away with three runs of their own, before the Yellow Jackets added 11 more runs to win game two with a final score of 19-3.
Game 3:
AIC scored 8 runs in the top of the first and added another lone run in the top of the fourth to claim game three with a 9-0 shutout.
Game 4:
AIC scored the first run of the game in the top of the first and added another three runs in the top of the third. AU answered back with a single run in the bottom of the fourth inning when Alex Camilo singled to right field and Rocco Nappi scored. The Yellow Jackets ran away with the game in the top of the fifth when they scored nine unanswered runs to go up by 12, 13-1. AIC added another run in the top of the 7th before Alliance scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the 7th.
Alliance will be back in action on the weekend when they travel to Pennsylvania to take on Slippery Rock in another multi-game series on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
