JERSEY CITY, NJ - A big 18-0 run between the second and third quarter allowed the Wilmington University women's basketball team to fight back and defeat Alliance, 49-43, for its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory of the season. AU jumped out to a first quarter lead of 18-7 which lead to a 25-9 lead with 5:30 left in the second quarter. WU then ended the half on a 10-2 run and opened up the second half with 21-6 run which went into the fourth quarter. The two runs combined for a Wildcats 31-8 run over the span of 15:49. Ashlyn Mesidor (Columbus, GA) earned another double double, scoring 12 points and pulling down 14 rebounds. She also stepped up defensively with four blocked shots. Carly Bolivar (Elmont, NY), who leads the team in scoring, added 10 points of her own. Raquel Crooke-Losada (Boadilla del Monte, Spain) pulled down 14 rebounds of her own, 13 of which were defensive.
The women will be in action on Tuesday, January 17 for a North division matchup when they travel to Dominican University. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30pm.
