Jersey City, NJ - Trailing by 13 points early in the second half, Alliance University stormed back and earned a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference cross-divisional contest from the Wilmington University men's basketball team, 72-68, on Friday night on the campus of New Jersey City University. The Wildcats led for the majority of the contest, over 33 minutes in all, as the game only had one lead change and two ties. But that lead change came late in the second half and it went in the favor of Alliance. With 15:01 left in the game the men went on a 20-8 run to tie the game. 39 seconds after they tied the game, AU took the lead for good at 61-60 off a fast break dunk by Jayden Dawson (Teaneck, NJ). The easy bucket came off a steal by Joel Bailey (Old Harbour, Jamaica) who then passed the ball to Jayden for the roaring dunk that sent the home crowd wild once Alliance took the lead. Joel lead both teams by scoring 25 points, shooting nine of 14 from the floor. Isayas Aris (Chicago, IL) added 16 points while collecting another double double with 15 rebounds. Jayden was the only other player in double digits scoring 10 points.
The men will use this momentum as they travel to Dominican University to face the #16 ranked team in the country on Tuesday January 17. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30pm.
