Jersey City, NJ -- The Alliance University men's and women's cross country team started its 2022-23 season at the Fred Pavlich Invitational on Saturday, September 24th. Senior
Grace Wells was the lone finisher on the women's side for Alliance University and finished 16th out of 51 runners with a time of 25:04.6 earning the senior from Oakhurst, NJ, Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference recognition as part of the weekly conference honorable mention award.
The men's team finished 7th overall out of 11 competing teams with
Shad Downes leading AU with a time of 22:33.9 placing him 30th out of 80 runners. He was followed by his twin brother
Shem Downes in 38th with a time of 23:18.2.
Senior Sam Abreu crossed the finish line moments later with a time of 24:08.4 as 43rd runner, while
Raul Deza and
Noble Parker completed the scoring runners for Alliance placing 52nd and 57th respectively.
Alliance will be back in action on Saturday, October 8th, when AU competes at the NJIT Challenge.
