Jersey City, NJ -- The Nyack College softball program added another win to their season record with a 5-4 win at College of Staten Island Today
Game One
Nyack got off to a hot start to the game, scoring 5 unanswered run's. Erin O'brien started off the run fest with a triple, bringing home Izzy Morales. Kaila Quick batted in the second run of the game with a double down the left field line.The route continued, with a bunt rbi single from Arielys Rodriguez. Jayna Celano joined the party with an RBI double, extending the Warriors lead to 4-0. Janelle Adam's reached base on an error, allowing Jayna Celano to come home, extending the lead to 5-0.
The Dolphins fought their way back into the game late with four runs in the seventh inning. Ultimately, they fell short. Kelly Ratigan picked up her second win on the season, improving to 2-5 on the season, going 7 strong innings.
Game Two
The Warriors were able to keep their offensive streak going in game 2. The dolphins got out to an early lead, scoring 3 runs in the first inning. The Warriors were able to rally in the second inning, scoring 5 runs and taking the advantage. The Dolphins came out swinging in the fourth inning, when Anissa Acosta hit a grandslam, giving the dolphins an 8-5 lead. The Warriors would not go away, as Izzy Murillo roped a 3 run bomb, tying the game going into the 8th inning. The valiant effort was not enough, as the dolphins ended up pulling away in the seventh. Izzy Morales finished the game with 4 Rbis and Janelle Adams had two. Jayna Celano was the pitcher of record, bringing her record to 2-4 on the season.
