Jersey City, NJ -- The Alliance University women's soccer program was back in action on Saturday afternoon when they traveled to Wilmington, Delaware, to take on the Goldey-Beacom College Lightning in another Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match up.
Goldey-Beacom dominated much of the first half outshooting AU 10 to five. One of the those shots found the back of the net in the 23rd minute of play. Two minutes later, the Lightning were awarded a penalty kick but were denied by the outside of the goal post. AU's best chance came off a breakaway by senior
Haile Velarde, whose shot only missed the goal by inches.
Goldey-Beacom came out strong in the second half and extended their lead to two only 51 seconds into the second period. The Lightning added another pair of goals in the 53 and 55th minute to go up 4-0. Freshman
Celine Grothe made seven saves over 90 minutes of play.
Alliance will be back on the road on Saturday, October 15th, when they travel tp Philadelphia to take on the Jefferson University Rams at 12:00 pm.
