Rochester, NY -- The Nyack College women's soccer program returned back to action on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference match against the Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks. Nyack ended up on the winning side once again after Shanice Rapp scored a beauty of a goal in double overtime. 

Roberts Wesleyan got the better of the Warriors in the first half firing seven shots towards the Nyack net with four of them on target. However, goalkeeper Lea Zehringer managed to keep the ball out of the net for the first 45 minutes to keep the score tied at 0-0. 

In the second half, the Warriors started to find a little more space offensively. In the 55th minute, Anna-Lena Gilbert found her way down the right side and found Zion Dewerff in the box who took the ball down and slotted it past the Redhawks goalkeeper. It looked as if the Warriors managed to defend their small margin. However, in the 88th minute, the Redhawks tied up the game after corner to force overtime. 

The first period of overtime remained tied at 1-1, before Shanice Rapp lobbed the ball over two incoming defenders and fired a beautiful volley over the goalkeeper for the 2-1 game-winner 

With the win, the Warriors started off the season 2-0 and will take on the St.Thomas Aquinas College Spartans on Thursday for their 2021 home opener.
