Box Score Kearney, NJ -- The Nyack College women's soccer team was back in action on Saturday when they hosted the Jefferson University Rams in another conference match-up at home.
The Warriors enjoyed a better start into the match keeping the Rams on their toes. However, the Warriors were unable to create any promising scoring opportunities within their first 20 minutes of domination. The Rams slowly found their way into the game and were threatening the Warrior goal with three shots in the first half. The first half finished with a deadlock at 0-0.
Jefferson came out of halftime with the goal of getting the go-ahead goal with several promising opportunities. However, they were either denied by the aluminum or goalkeeper Lea Zehringer. In the 74th minute, the Rams found the back of the net for the first time when Ava Albergo put the ball past Zehringer in net for the 1-0 Jefferson lead.
Jefferson continued to dominate the second half with a total of 14 shots compared to Nyack's four. However, with the last attack, the Warriors almost tied the game, when a Zion Dewerff cross found Shanice Rapp in the box. But the Rapp was denied by Jefferson's goalkeeper to seal the 1-0 victory for the Rams.
Zehringer finished the day with nine saves.
Nyack will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Dominican College for another conference matchup on the road.
