Jersey City, NJ -- The Nyack College women's volleyball team opened conference play with their first home game of the season against the Bloomfield College Bears on Tuesday evening. The Warriors were edged out by the Bears in a close affair by a final score of 2-3 with set scores of 25-22, 25-27, 22-25, 25-22, 18-20. 

The Warriors got off to a great start and jumped to an early 5-1 lead and never looked back to earn the first set with 25-22. Set two seemed to go in favor of the Bears when they saw themselves ahead with a score of 21-14. However, the Warriors went on a 3-10 run to tie up set two. However, the Bears managed to keep a cool head to decide set two in their favor. 

The third set was a close affair until the end with the score being 20-21 in favor of Bloomfield. The Bears held on to their small margin to go ahead with a 25-22 score to take the lead in sets with 2-1. 

But the Warriors were not done yet and jumped to an early lead in the fourth, 11-5. The Bears were slowly closing in on the Warriors but Nyack managed to keep Bloomfield at bay to take set four with 22-25 to tie up the game. 

The fifth and deciding set seemed to go in Bloomfield's favor with an early 6-2 lead. But the Warriors showed resilience and managed to fight their way back to tie the game up at 8-8. From there on the final set went back and forth with the score being tied at 18-18 before the Bears got back to back points to win set five and the game with a final score of 2-3.

Freshman Ashlyn Couch led the Warriors with a game-high 18 kills on 53 attempts. British Dawson led all players with a game-high 29 digs. The Warriors are back in action on Thursday afternoon when they travel to Connecticut to square off with the Post University Eagles in another conference game.
