Box Score Wilmington, DE -- The Nyack College baseball team traveled to Wilmington, Delaware on Wednesday afternoon to take on the Goldey-Beacom College Lightning. Despite a solid offensive effort the Warriors struggled to keep the Lightning off the scoreboard in a game that ended with a final score of 3-13.
Goldey-Beacom got on the board right away in the top of the first with a two-run home run to the left center. Nyack answered right away in the bottom of the first when Eric Bittiger scored off an Andrew Brooks single. The Lightning scored another pair of runs in the top of the third and added a combined seven more runs in the top of the fourth and fifth inning. Nyack scored its last two runs of the day in the bottom of the 5th. Chris Navarro scored off a Larry Rodriguez double before Matthew Ing singled to the shortstop to bring Rodriguez home.
The Warriors combined for a total of 10 hits with Eric Bittiger, Larry Rodriguez, and Andrew Brooks all finishing the day with two hits each.
Nyack will be back in action on Friday when they will square off with the Lightning once again for a conference doubleheader. The first pitch is slated for 12:00 pm.
