Philadelphia, PA -- The Nyack College women's soccer team bounced back after their loss to Caldwell on Saturday with a 3-2 win over the Chestnut Hill College Griffins. 

The Warriors struck twice in the first half to gain a 2-0 lead. In the 36th minute, Milena Ricken found Shanice Rapp with a beautiful through-ball, who then slotted the ball past the Griffin's goalkeeper for the 1-0 lead. Nyack scored another one only two minutes later. The Warriors were awarded a free kick 30 yards out from the goal. Shanice Rapp stepped over the ball and was then sent through on the right of the wall by Maria Varga. Rapp's cross in found the foot of Zion Dewerff who directed the ball in the bottom left corner of the goal. Nyack outshot the Griffins 15-6 in the first 45 minutes. 

The Griffins answered back with the start of the second half. A little over one minute into the second period the Griffins were brought down in the box and awarded a penalty kick. Chestnut Hill's Riley Regan put the ball in the bottom right corner to cut Nyack's lead down to one. Zion Dewerff answered back with her second of the day. Chloeanne Hails send her through on a one-on-one and Dewerff finished the play with a shot to the bottom right corner, to reestablish Nyack's two-goal lead. Chestnut Hill used a counter-attack with 10 minutes left in regular time to cut Nyack's lead back down to one. Seven minutes later the Griffins had another breakaway opportunity but a Linda Grimminger foul stopped the counter-attack and led to a red card for the junior defender. 

With the win, the Warriors improve to 2-1-1 and will take on the Dominican College Chargers on Saturday in a 5:00 pm home contest. As always there are no spectators allowed at any CACC athletic events this Spring but you can follow all the action live via our CACC Network.
