Sparkill, NY -- The Nyack College softball team started their 2021 campaign with a trip to Sparkill, NY to square off with the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans over two games. The Spartans decided both games in their favor edging their way past the Warriors 1-0 in the first and 6-1 in the second game of the day. 

How it Happened:

First Game, 0-1 St. Thomas Aquinas
Both teams struggled to at the plate during the first game. Janelle Adams got the lone hit for the Warriors, while the Spartans managed to get six hits, with the lone run being scored in the bottom of the fourth. MacDonald singled to left-center which allowed Albelli to reach home base. 

Second Game, 1-6 St. Thomas Aquinas
The Spartans got off to the better start with a home run in the bottom of the first to get the first run on the board. STAC would follow up with four consecutive runs in the bottom of the second and another run in the bottom of the 5th to earn a 6-0 lead. Nyack's lone run came in the top of the 7th when Janelle Adams singled up the middle and Jessa Johnson reached home. The Warriors did a lot better hitting-wise in the second game, recording a combined eight hits. Erin O'Brien would lead Nyack with three hits in the second game, while Janelle Adams got two of her own with the lone RBI for the Warriors. 

Up next: Nyack will look to bounce back next Tuesday when they travel to Pennsylvania to take on the Kutztown Golden Bears in a non-conference doubleheader at 2:30 and 4:30 pm.
