Box Score Jersey City, NJ -- The Nyack College women's volleyball team started its 2021 season with a season and home opener against the Dominican College Chargers on Wednesday evening. Nyack decided the first set in their favor, before the Chargers answered back taking the second set. Nyack got right back in the match, winning set three and four to seal their first victory of the season.
The Chargers jumped to an early 5-0 lead in the first set, but Nyack eventually found themselves to tie the game at 8 points apiece. The Warriors then scored five consecutive points setting themselves up for success in the first set, which finished with a final score of 22-25.
The Charges enjoyed a better start once again. But this time Dominican never looked back outscoring the Warriors 25-15 to tie the game.
The third set started in a similar fashion to the previous two. Dominican saw themselves up 9-3 before Nyack once again turned on their engines to going on a 13-1 run to decide the third set in their favor, 19-25.
The Warriors were wide awake for the fourth set, while the Chargers seemed to tire out towards the end. While the beginning of the set went back and forth, the Warriors eventually jumped to a comfortable 18-7 lead, which they defended until the end to win the fourth and final set of the day, 25-14.
The Warriors spread out their scoring evenly across the team with freshman Jada Hamilton and senior British Dawson leading the way with 11 kills each. Dawson also led the Warriors with 20 digs on the day.
Nyack will be back on the road on Friday when they travel to Georgian Court University for a 5:00 pm match. Follow all the action live via the CACC Network.
