Box Score Jersey City, NJ -- The Nyack College women's soccer program finished its 2021 season with a 2-1 win over the Bloomfield College Bears on Wednesday afternoon. Yesterday's game also served as the Senior Day for the women's soccer program as they took some time before the game to honor the hard work Saskia Lehninger, Marisa Hernandez, Lea Zehringer, Zion Dewerff, Michelle Baum, Anna Lopez, and Milena Ricken have put into the Warrior program.
The Warriors dominated the first half and combined their way through the Bears' defense. Subsequently, Nyack got on the scoreboard first in the 13th minute when Anna-Lena Gilbert scored off a Maria Vargas Dominguez assist. 13 minutes later the Warriors struck a second time when Mai Ruiz De Erenchun scored off a Shanice Rapp corner for the 2-0 lead.
The Bears became bolder in the second half and started to press the Warriors earlier and higher forcing a few turnovers. In the 64th minute that pressure paid off as the Bears cut down the Nyack lead to one after a mistake by the Warrior defense. However, the Bears were unable to find the back of the net a second time and the game ended with a 2-1 win for the Warriors.
With the win, the Warriors finish the 2021 season with a 7-9 overall record and a 4-7 conference record. Shanice Rapp led the Warriors throughout the season with six goals and five assists which ranks her ninth in points (17) in the CACC.
