Softball Celebrates Senior Day with the Regular Season Finale

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
The Nyack College softball team hosted the Holy Family Tigers in the Warriors' last game of the season, as Nyack dropped both games 12-1 and 7-5. The Warriors honored their senior players, Aferdita Sinanaj, Shelby Davidson, and Katalina Padilla, as they finished their collegiate athletic career.

In the first game, the Tigers scored in the second, third, and fourth innings to take a 4-0 lead. The Warriors scored in the bottom of the fifth as Stephanie White walked and then scored an unearned run when Erin O'Brien reached base on a Tigers error. The Tigers scored again in the top of the sixth, and the Warriors had a runner on base in the bottom of the sixth but left her stranded to move into the last inning. In the top of the seventh, Holy Family scored three runs and then capped it off with a grand slam. The Warriors started off the bottom of the seventh by putting a runner on base with Nicole Wisser's walk, but were unable to overcome the Tigers' lead and ended the game in a 12-1 loss.

In the second game, the Tigers again got out to an early lead with three runs scored in the top of the first. Nyack answered in the bottom of the first as Katie Lupinacci singled, Alissa Brugnoli doubled, and Aferdita Sinanaj walked to load the bases for Morgan Hans, who reached on a fielder's choice that brought in Lupinacci for the run. Holy Family added one run each in the second, third, and fifth innings to put the Warriors down 7-1. In the bottom of the sixth, Nyack again loaded the bases with a single from Angelique Alires and back-to-back walks from Katalina Padilla and Stephanie White. Tia Celano drew a third consecutive walk to bring in Alires for the score, and Erin O'Brien followed by driving in two runs on a double to center field. Katie Lupinacci contributed to the comeback effort with an RBI groundout to bring in Celano for the score. The Warriors held the Tigers scoreless in the next inning and went into the bottom of the seventh down by two runs. With two outs, Nicole Wisser singled and then moved to second on Katalina Padilla's following single to put the tying runs on base, but the inning ended with a groundout to cut short the Warriors' efforts and finish the game in a 7-5 loss.

Erin O'Brien led the Warriors with 3 combined RBIs, and Alissa Brugnoli and Aferdita Sinanaj each contributed 2 combined hits for the day. Brittany Blair started the first game for Nyack, and Nicole Wisser pitched the entire second game.

In individual conference standings, Aferdita Sinanaj tied for 5th place overall with home runs for the season (7). Sinanaj was also 7th overall in the CACC with hits (50) followed closely by Erin O'Brien in 8th (49).
