The Nyack College softball team traveled to Post University in a conference doubleheader
on Tuesday, as the Warriors lost the first game to the Eagles 9-4 and took the next one into extra innings before dropping a close second game, 7-6.
In the first game, the Warriors got on the scoreboard first in the top of the second, as
Nicole Wisser doubled and then advanced to third on a wild pitch before being brought in for the run on
Gabrielle Placencia's RBI single. The Eagles then scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth, putting the Warriors down 6-1. In the next inning,
Erin O'Brien singled with two outs to get on base for
Katie Lupinacci, who drove in two runs with a home run to right field. Post answered with a solo home run in the next inning, then added two more runs to extend their lead. In the top of the seventh,
Erin O'Brien led off with a double, followed by a walk from
Katie Lupinacci to put two on base for the Warriors.
Aferdita Sinanaj singled for an RBI as O'Brien scored and Lupinacci advanced to third, but it was the last run for Nyack as a following double play ended the game in a 9-4 Warriors loss.
In the second game, the Eagles took the lead in the bottom of the first with two runs scored. The Warriors scored a run in the top of the second as
Aferdita Sinanaj singled and then was brought home on
Morgan Hans' following RBI double. Post hit a solo home run in the bottom of the third, and in the top of the fourth,
Aferdita Sinanaj doubled and moved to third on
Morgan Hans' single, then scored as
Nicole Wisser reached base on a fielder's choice. The Warriors then took the lead in the top of the fifth.
Katie Lupinacci reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to second, then with two outs, was brought home on
Aferdita Sinanaj's single.
Morgan Hans followed with another RBI single to bring in Sinanaj for the score, and the Warriors went up 4-3. Post tied it up in the bottom of the fifth, then scored two more to take back the lead. Nyack answered in the bottom of the sixth with
Gabrielle Placencia getting on base with a walk and then advancing to third on the next two plays, as
Katalina Padilla also got on base with a single. Placencia scored on
Erin O'Brien's RBI groundout, and Padilla was brought in next on
Katie Lupinacci's following RBI single to tie the game. Neither team scored in the seventh inning, so the game moved into extra innings. In the bottom of the eighth, Post scored on an RBI single with two outs as the Warriors lost a close game 7-6.
