The Nyack College softball team traveled to Jefferson University in a conference doubleheader
on Saturday, as the Warriors dropped both games to the Rams with scores of 11-0 and 8-4.
In the first game, Jefferson opened up the scoring with a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning. The Rams added two runs in the bottom of the second and six in the bottom of the third as they jumped out to a 9-0 lead over Nyack.
Erin O'Brien earned Nyack's first hit in the top of the fourth with a double to left center to give the Warriors their first scoring chance, but O'Brien was left stranded, and Jefferson scored twice more in the bottom of the fourth. The Warriors were retired in order to end the game in 5 innings, with Nyack taking the 11-0 loss.
In the second game, the Warriors started off in the lead as
Alissa Brugnoli doubled and then was brought in for the score on
Nicole Wisser's RBI single in the top of the first. The Rams answered with two runs in the bottom of the first, and Nyack tied it back up in the top of the second as
Stephanie White singled to get on base and then scored on an RBI single from
Katie Lupinacci. In the top of the third,
Aferdita Sinanaj led off with a double and then scored on the following play as
Morgan Hans reached base on an error.
Nicole Wisser also reached on an error and
Gabrielle Placencia walked to load the bases.
Tia Celano brought in a run with a sacrifice fly to put the Warriors back in the lead with a score of 4-2. The Rams reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the third after scoring three runs. In the top of the fourth,
Aferdita Sinanaj singled and then stole second to move into scoring position, but was left stranded, and the Rams added two more runs in the next two innings. The Warriors looked to start a comeback in the seventh inning as
Morgan Hans doubled to get on base, but Nyack was unable to bring in any more runs, and ended the game in an 8-4 loss.
