Box Score The Nyack College lacrosse team faced Dominican College in a rival conference matchup on Monday, as the Warriors started off by keeping it close but eventually ended the game in a 22-11 loss to the Chargers.
In the first half, the Chargers took an early lead with two quick goals in the first two minutes.
Jocelin Wright answered with Nyack's first score at
4:27, and the teams traded goals for the next three minutes as two more Chargers goals were met with two Nyack goals with one from
Tori Silvers at
6:21 and one from
Julianna Kranes on a free position shot at
7:56. Kranes scored again with an unassisted goal at
10:08 to tie the score at 4-4, but the Chargers pulled ahead moments later with a score at
10:32.
Tori Silvers tied the score back up with a free position goal at
12:08, and
Courtney LaTorre put the Warriors in the lead with an unassisted goal at
13:15. Dominican then scored twice on free position shots and once on an unassisted goal, but Nyack tied the score again with two goals, one from
Jocelin Wright at
19:50 and one from
Melissa Clapsaddle at
21:19. For the next five minutes, Dominican's offense surged, scoring five goals before
Julianna Kranes snapped their scoring run with an unassisted goal at 27:47. The Chargers finished out the half with three more goals, and the Warriors went into halftime down 17-9.
The Chargers started off the second half with a quick score, and then scored four more goals over the course of sixteen minutes as Nyack's defense limited their shots on goal. The Chargers' last goal came at 47:20, and the Warriors held them scoreless for the final twelve minutes of the game. Nyack finished out the game with two goals near the end of the half, as
Isabella Thomas scored off of an assist from Torie Eggers at 55:45 and
Tori Silvers slipped in the final goal at 59:30 on an unassisted score as the Warriors ended in a loss.
