The Nyack College lacrosse team hosted conference opponent Felician University
on Saturday, with the Warriors taking control late in the first half to claim a 22-9 victory over the Golden Falcons. The win brings Nyack's CACC record to 2-2.
The Warriors started the game with three goals in the first five minutes, as
Julianna Kranes got the first score of the game at
2:27, followed by
Melissa Clapsaddle at
4:04 and then
Tori Silvers right after at
4:22. Felician answered with two goals in the next two minutes, and then for a span of seven minutes, it was a back-and-forth battle of each team scoring two consecutive goals. The Warriors scored twice from
Julianna Kranes (
7:17) and
Tori Silvers (
8:06), and the Golden Falcons responded with goals at
12:14 and 13:02. Nyack came right back with a quick pair of goals from
Jocelin Wright at
14:09 and then
Tori Silvers on a free-position shot at
14:27. Felician scored once more, but for the last 12 minutes, Nyack's offense stole the show.
Jocelin Wright scored at
17:29, followed by two consecutive goals from
Melissa Clapsaddle at
19:42 and 20:24, with all three on assists by
Tori Silvers.
Torrie Eggers charged in at
21:34 with an unassisted goal, and
Melissa Clapsaddle then scored the next three goals in a span of three minutes.
Tori Silvers took the ball to the back of the net unassisted at 27:25, and
Isabella Thomas capped Nyack's 9-0 scoring run with a free-position goal with 17 seconds left in the half. The Warriors went into halftime up 16-5.
At the start of the second half, the Warriors added another score almost immediately from
Melissa Clapsaddle at 31:30. Felician stopped Nyack's streak with a goal at 35:30, but the Warriors came right back with three goals - two from
Tori Silvers at 37:30 and 39:11 and one unassisted score from
Courtney LaTorre at 41:15. Felician scored at 42:30, and
Stephanie Russo answered from Nyack with a goal at 44:30. Felician scored twice more, but
Japria Karim-Duvall scored the last goal of the game at 54:07 to solidify Nyack's win.
