The Nyack College lacrosse team traveled to face Post University in their second conference game
on Tuesday. The Warriors gained their first victory of the season with a 21-9 win over the Eagles, putting their CACC record at 1-1.
The game started out in a back-and-forth scoring battle.
Melissa Clapsaddle opened the game with a goal on an assist from
Tori Silvers six minutes into the half. Post answered with two scores at
9:35 and 11:43, and
Jocelin Wright tied up the score with a goal at
12:21 off of a free position shot. Post scored again to take a 3-2 lead, but
Tori Silvers' unassisted goal at
15:06 kicked off an offensive surge for Nyack, as the Warriors scored eight goals in the next seven minutes of play.
Julianna Kranes followed Silvers 40 seconds later with her own unassisted goal, and Silvers scored again at
17:18 on an assist from
Courtney LaTorre.
Melissa Clapsaddle scored twice in a row at
19:40 and 21:19, both unassisted, and Silvers earned another unassisted goal at
21:47. In the 23rd minute of the first half, Nyack scored three goals - two from
Julianna Kranes at
22:26 and 22:55, and one from
Torrie Eggers at
22:45. Post scored three quick goals, but
Tori Silvers stopped any chance of a comeback with a Nyack goal at 25:50. Post scored once more, and Nyack closed out the last two minutes of the half with a goal each from
Jocelin Wright (28:10),
Melissa Clapsaddle (29:02), and
Julianna Kranes (29:30). The Warriors went into halftime up 15-7.
The second half opened with the Warriors showing they were not done scoring.
Courtney LaTorre scored for Nyack at 35:28 on a free position shot, followed by a goal from
Tori Silvers at 37:30. Post added a goal at 38:28, countered quickly by another score from Silvers on a free position shot.
Melissa Clapsaddle then scored three goals in a row for Nyack, at 42:55, 50:48, and 56:13. Post scored once more before time ran out, but the victory was Nyack's in a 21-9 win.
Melissa Clapsaddle led the Warriors offense with 7 goals, and
Tori Silvers added 4 assists.
Morgan Kessler picked up 6 ground balls and also had 14 saves as goalie for Nyack.
