Women's Volleyball Bounces Back With Win Over Dominican, 3-1

Box Score
The Nyack Warriors volleyball team traveled up the hill to face the Dominican Chargers in a conference matchup. Nyack dropped the first set but quickly made up the next three to claim the victory in a 3-1 win, boosting their CACC record to 9-5.

In the first set, the Warriors got off to a slow start on serve receive, which did not allow their offense many opportunities to put the ball away. The Chargers took advantage of Nyack errors to keep the score close, with the Warriors hanging on to a slim lead throughout the set. Up 24-23, Nyack was not able to close out the set, with Dominican scoring 3 straight points to put the Warriors down 24-26 in the first game. In the three following sets, however, Nyack started out strong and maintained consistency to take back the match. In the second set, the Warriors jumped out to a 4-0 lead off of strong serving. They solidified their blocking game at the net to shut down the Chargers offense, and Nyack limited their own errors to keep their lead through the game, winning the set 25-15.

Starting the third set, the Chargers kept it close at the beginning, with both teams trading points off of serves and attacks. Nyack turned the momentum to their favor with some strategic kills, and continued the push at the service line, going on long serving runs to widen the score gap. The Warriors did not let up and closed out the third set 25-11. In the fourth set, the storyline remained much of the same. Tough serving continued to propel the Warriors ahead, and their passing game on defense and serve receive allowed the offense to generate points at the net. Nyack won the fourth set 25-14 to finish the match.

Kyra Zuhlke led Nyack at the net with 15 kills and 5 block assists, supported by setters Rachel Medin and Olivia Denny, who contributed 16 and 13 assists respectively. Medin led the match in digs overall with 24, and also earned 7 of Nyack's 13 service aces.

Up next, the Warriors will defend their home court against Caldwell on Saturday.
