Philadelphia, PA – A late goal in the first period of overtime helped the Nyack College women's soccer team clinch a 3-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win earlier this Saturday against Philadelphia University.

The Rams (1-3-1/1-2-1) struck for the first goal of the game, when Mary Kate Ulmer scored in the 14th minute of the first half. The Lady Warriors answered with a goal of their own in the 20th minute. Freshman Zoe Mould would finish after a 1vs1 with the goalkeeper to tie the game. With two minutes left in the first half freshman Tauntyonah Marie-Guinter gave the Warriors the lead, when she found the back of the net after an assist by Lauren Rygus.  At the end of the first period the Warriors (1-4/1-2 CACC) led in shots, 5-3, while both teams recorded two corners. Sophomore Julianna Kranes made two saves for the Warriors in the first 45 minutes while Deanna Messner made one save for the Philadelphia Rams.

The Warriors continued to press forward, however, it was Philadelphia who scored 8 minutes into second half. Megan Sullivan converted on an assist by Taylor Mysza. With the tying goal the momentum shifted in the second half and the Rams were now pressing forward and were almost rewarded. With two minutes left in the game it seemed like the Rams could garner the win, but Julianna Kranes kept the game tied with an incredible save and sent both teams into overtime.   

With seconds left in the first period of overtime Brianna Sparrow was stopped by the Rams goalkeeper, but Tauntyonah Marie-Guinter picked up the rebound and smashed the ball from 30 yards out into the empty net for the game-winning goal.

Both teams recorded 10 shots over 100 minutes, while the Rams recorded a 7-3 corner advantage. Kranes finished the contest with 6 saves while Messner stopped three shots.

The Lady Warriors will be back in action on Tuesday, when they host Felician University on Moseley Field. Kick off is at 4:00pm.
