The Nyack College Women's Soccer team faced the Golden Falcons of Felician College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Tuesday, September 29th. After 90 minutes of play the Falcons would emerge victorious defeating Nyack 6-0.

How It Happened

Senior Krystal Vega (Anaheim Hills, CA) stood out with 3 shots for the game and 1 shot on goal.  The five remaining shots for the Warriors were split between freshman Julianna Kranes (Montgomery, NY), junior Melanie Garcia (Queens, NY), sophomore Clara Vierstra (Concord, MA), junior Katherine Oldfield (Bolton, England), and sophomore Rebekah Lawler (Lacey, NJ).  Lawler, Oldfield, and Vierstra's shots were all on target, but, unfortunately, were saved or blocked by the Golden Falcon defense.  Sophomore Jordan Jansen (Lafayette, NJ) recorded 4 saves in 78 minutes for the Warriors before freshmen Alexandria Bison (Springfield, MA) stepped into the goal and notched her first collegiate save.

Throughout the two periods of play the Golden Falcons doubled the Warriors shots taken with 16 and 11 shots on goal.  The Falcons dominated the first 28 minutes of the game, producing 4 shots on goal scoring their first goal in the 4th minute of play.  Sophomore Jessica Short (Tottenham, Canada) would break the Falcons chain of control with a corner kick in the 28th minute.  The following ten minutes saw two shots on goal by Warriors Vierstra and Lawler that were saved by Felician keeper Julia Sheridan.  Felician would regain control of the ball scoring their second goal of the half in the 40th minute.  The clock would run out for the first period with a score of 2-0 in favor of the Golden Falcons.

In similar fashion, the second half saw an early goal by the Golden Falcons in the first 30 seconds of play.  Nyack responded with a shot missing wide just 15 seconds post goal, however, the Falcons would return 3 shots on the Warrior net and score their fourth goal of the night in the 53rd minute.  Vega turned and attacked Felician's goal with 3 successive shots; the first was blocked, the second missed high, and the third was picked up by Sheridan.  Kranes followed her teammate with a shot immediately after the save, narrowly missing the net high.  Felician reciprocated with 6 shots and 2 more goals to close out the match with a final score of Nyack 0, Felician 6.
