Despite a great Warrior effort through the first 45 minutes of play, the Philadelphia University Rams were able to produce 2 goals in the second period of play securing the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win.
How It Happened:
Nyack earned 6 shots against the Rams with 2 shots on goal from sophomore Rebekah Lawler (Lacey, NJ). Freshman Julianna Kranes (Montgomery, NY) and sophomore Lauren Rygus (Mississauga, Canada) each added 2 shots to the Warriors total as well. Sophomore keeper Jordan Jansen (Lafayette, NJ) garnered 7 saves for the night out of 9 shots on goal.
Despite the Rams 11 shots in the first half, the Warriors managed to keep the entire first period scoreless. Jansen earned 6 of her 7 saves in the first 45 minutes of play, many of which were successive shots. The clock expired and the teams would return with a different approach of attack.
The second period saw 2 unassisted goals minutes apart from each other despite the Warriors defensive efforts to keep the Rams off the scoreboard. The first goal came in the 57th minute off of a shot from inside the box. Immediately following Rams Alex Reyes earned a corner kick and was then able to score in the 59th minute off of a shot from 25 yards out. Despite 3 Warrior shots against the Rams defense, the clock would run out with a final score of 2-0 in favor of the Rams.
