Box Score Nyack, NY- The women's soccer team defeated Goldey- Beacom in the last conference match of the season by a score of 6-1 and also clinches a CACC playoff spot with the victory. While doing so, the Warrior's broke the women's soccer programs history record for most conference wins in a season with a record of 7-4-1.
The Warrior's would score 2 minutes into the game when Stephanie Mercier found Cyan Jean-Baptiste with an pass inside the box, where Baptiste carried across the keeper and turned and buried a shot into the left corner. In the 28th minute, Nyack would score again off a corner kick by senior Sabrina Caires which was headed into the back of the net by Stacey Cervantes.
The Nyack offense continued to roll in the second half, led by a number of seniors and freshman forward Selena Vargas. In the 46th and 47th minutes of the game, Vargas would finish both goals coming off passes from seniors Cervantes and Heather Wakeley. Then in the 55th minute, Sabrina Caires delivered Nyack's 5th goal of the game.
To solidify the win, one of CACC's offensive leaders in points and shots Stacy Cervantes would notch her 7th goal of the season in the 62nd minute of play.
In the win, Nyack owned advantages in total shots (28-5) and corner kick (8-0).
Nyack will look to carry their momentum through this next week as they prepare for CACC playoffs with matches against Bridgeport & Molloy.
